Panel Session: Another Golden Age of TV: Content and its Many Homes in the Consumer Home

In a world where the length of the sound byte seems to be shrinking every year, why are cable customers tuning in more than ever for long-arc, slow burning TV? It’s no wonder that the magic that is grabbing and expanding viewers’ attention is something attractive not just to cable customers but also its competitors. Moving into a world where TV is shorthand for TV everywhere with the consumer calling the shots, the partnership between content providers and the cable industry has never been more vital or fruitful.

Going Mobile: Quad Pro Quo?

Going Mobile: Quad Pro Quo?

Cable is going mobile and vice-versa as we heard last year at Cable Congress (and more recently in the press with Vodafone going cable). Going wireless is a logical path given customer expectations and competitive offerings. Cable operators are constantly evolving in order to maintain the envied role of service provider of choice wherever they are in the market. The trend of extending the reach of fixed networks via WiFi hotspots and combining fixed and mobile services with MVNO offerings are further evidence of cable’s ongoing evolution for customers. This session will explore the underlying services and technologies available today for cable operators to offer mobile and quad play services.
